shock recommendation

1999 4x4 ranger, what would be the best replacement shocks for the front and back? There seems to be a wide variety from $20.00 each to $115.00

If your Ranger is a '99 4x4, then the front "shocks" are actually torsion bars, so you don't have to worry about them.

Bilsteins are a popular choice for Ranger shocks. I upgraded the rears on my '98 several years w/Bilsteins and they are still going strong. Try a search.

Wrong

Torsion bar trucks still have front shocks.

I have Bilsteins all around

As I remember the 99 Ranger 4X4 came factory equipped with heavy duty gas charged Bilstein shocks.
Yup the 4X4 front suspension was equipped with torsion bars, the 4X2 had short & long "A" arms with coil springs, which really improved the ride, but thank goodness it didn't get the heavy duty shocks that the 4X4 got!!!! lol

Well it all depends, the more money you spend the better shock you get. And the smoothe ride youll get. But if you want some NICE shocks but dont need the best, get Bilstiens , There awsome i run them on my truck and believe me iv have worked them VERY hard when i wheel. And they have never bottomed out, even when the truck had gone air born. And still is a very plush ride so yes id recommend Bilstien for sure, But the Gabriel Max control is also very nice and both are around $50-$60
