Pulled The Trigger

Next week I will have my new custom tunes from Mike at 5-Star. Looking forward to elmiminating the flaws Ford designed into the stock programming on my 5.0 with Mike's handy work. Mike is doing a great job from what I can tell. Enjoyed learning about the choices with tuning and his Boss intake project he has going on with his 5.0 truck. I'd highly recommend calling him if you're wondering about improving your truck.

I'll keep you all posted regarding the new improvements with the truck. Looking forward to better low end response. Ford blew it big time on this with the 5.0. You have to wonder if they did it to aid in EB sales or something.

Time to play. Mikes Tunes have arrived. Ordered Friday, arrived Thursday. Heck, the delay, if you can call it that, was UPS. Wild.....

I'll post later today or over the weekend. I'm really looking forward to seeing what all is improved. Ford clearly did not focus on making the 5.0 anything other then a general purpose engine in our trucks.

Time to have some fun.

Awesome! I look forward to hearing how you're tune plays out.

Although I have to disagree about the 5.0L being a weak low end engine. To me personally it feels downright over bearing in the low end...But maybe it feels different to me because I had spent the last 3 years drivng a 3.0L Ranger with 180lb/ft of torque haha. Yeah to me personally the 5.0L feels like a monster down low.

But yeah, I look forward to hearing how the Tune works out for you. I've been considering one for my truck at some point down the road, I'm just a little worried as I have heard that they can cause to you have issues with you're engine and transmission.

I agree it's weak on the low end of the rpm rannge - anything under 3,000. You got a custom tune to improve low end power then? How's the response??

I'm looking to pull the trigger on a tune and exhaust. Roush too loud, inside, anyone??

Mine doesn't feel weak at all! I have a RCSB with 3.55LS though.

I rented an 5.0 powered F150 while my Excursion was down and that truck has some serious huevos to it!

I almost don't see how it could be improved upon...that's just me though.

I am supposed to pick up my new F150 tomorrow. I am trading in a 2012 Mustang GT. my first thought when I drove it is it has great potential but needs a tune! I'm looking forward to reading your report.

I gave up on the tune long LONG ago. My truck never ran right. Was this a tune related issue or a truck related issue, I haven't a clue. All I know is it was a waste of money and time. Looking forward to the next truck.

Shaun at AED is a master of the new 5.0's. You might try him. He'd have it whipped right into shape.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've found the stock tune to be just fine. 84K and climbing. Just going to drive it until I can swing a new rig.
