Been awhile since i've been on. Lots of good stuff happening here still which is great to see!
Was wondering if anyone has installed any kind of belt driven aux air compressor on thier 7.3? Not sure how this could be done other than where a secondary alternator would go? Dunno.
I assume most would just use an electric compressor either manually controlled or pressure switch controlled. However, am interested if the belt driven option has been done by anyone.
Got a reply back from Clay already. As noted, the mount kit is an additional $500, the compressor itself is $399, so $900 does it. I have asked him for pictures to show how and where on the engine the unit gets mounted.
I've wanted to carry air for a while but just haven't justified actually doing it. On a side note that compressor looks just like a ac compressor. My grandpaw actually took his ac compressor on an old cummins that the system was bad on but the compressor still worked and put a filter on the intake and ran a line to a supply tank with a pressure switch to shut it off at like 100 psi. Worked great. But finally moved on to a newer truck and isn't giving up his ac so he now carries a gas compressor. Anyhow, I was wondering, what about carrieing a nitrogen bottle under the truck to run misc things. They can be regulated to an easy 100 PBS of thats even necessary to fill tires, air horn, fill air bags, or what ever else you may want. Not sure if it would actually run any of those things for any length of time so it may not justify.
