I don't have very much experience with this and I was wondering what kind of improvements i could see in my 1977 F-250 by installing headers? I'm wondering if the mileage and power gains are worth the money for just a fun driver. Also what should I look for in headers? Any information would be helpful.
Up to 15 percent increase in HP and maybe 10 percent better fuel economy since the engine is not working as hard to perform the same amount of work... it's very much worth the cost cuz you'll feel the difference in your butt. Long tubes are preferred over short tubes. Ya didn't spec your engine but 2.25 to 2.5-inch tubing and mufflers of your choice will set up a good foundation for future upgrades.
What to look for? Fitment, flange thickness, tubing thickness, and coating.... Flowtechs are really affordable... L&Ls are high dollar but are, from the input of fellow FTE'ers, typically high quality. Other brands include Hedman and Hooker. You'll get a bunch of different opinions on who to go with.....
