Ok guys. Im looking at an 01 navigator for a friend because the drivers rear is sagging. I checked the level ride sensor, compressor and they are both working. When the rear is weighted, the compressor kicks on but drivers side does not get any higher. I cannot locate any leaks at or around the airbag.
Also its a 2001 Navigator 4x4 front and rear air ride.
Any suggestions? Am I missing a leak for the right side somewhere else? Could it just be the airbag itself leaking or just malfunctioning?
I would suspect the release solenoid on top of the DS airbag is stuck open or otherwise leaking. This would prevent it from holding any air pressure.
I tried to do some preliminary checks with soapy water but could not find any.
Now are you referring to the top part of the airbag that sticks through the mount?
And, If I replace the airbag, does it come with a new release solenoid? Or do I have to obtain a new one of those.
I tried to do some preliminary checks with soapy water but could not find any.
If the solenoid on the rear DS airbag is indeed leaking, then the only way the soapy water trick will work is if the compressor is running. This is because there is no air in the airbag to leak and create bubbles in the soap.
Yes, the top part up at the mount. The solenoid sticks out the side. Whether or not the solenoid comes with a new airbag could depend on where you buy it. You can buy just the solenoid, so you might want to first remove that and test it. Perhaps just swap it with the other side and see if the problem follows the solenoid.
