I ended up cutting the wire that comes from the factory harness and wiring in my direct wire from upfitter one. The diodes I had first used were not able to handle the wattage draw over time. I made the connection behind the bumper.
Since I leave them on all the time, even during the day as DRLs, this setup works for me.
