Please don't drive with your fogs on. They blind the crap out of other drivers. There is a reason they shut off, and don't come on with the other lights.

That makes no sense. The fogs can be on when the low beams are on and are aimed low so as not to blind oncoming drivers. It is this way from the factory.

The way fog lights work, is to provide light down low.

Where I live, is rural, and not having plenty of light out front makes it hard to see deer, possum, skunks, groundhogs and racoons.

When driving in town, I usually dont use my fog lights.

Really? My other ride is a Vette (can't get much lower) and I never have been bothered by fog lights. What bothers me is those pick-up trucks! Wait a second! I resemble that remark!

That's kinda funny because it always seems to be some little ricer car blinding me with his 10,000K HID lights!

DRLs turn off when stopped in park, just set the brake. Of course the running lights will come on when running remote start. I am running the brite box because it's separately powered on the pass side so both lights are more direct to battery getting better voltage. It's really nice to have the light on high(6 filaments) but these have to be dimmed for oncoming traffic, down to low 4 filaments. If it's dark, wet, icing, poor visibility nobody high beams me. Using high end H13 bulbs. Remember you must be moving to run both filaments on high beam in the bulb or they can overheat. I never run less than 50 mph on high anyway.

I agree with someone else, HID's are far worse and they are on more "small" cars than trucks. The fogs are directed low in front of the truck and to the sides, not out ahead. I get "flashed" more with just my headlights on than with both headlights and fog lights. I think more people have become aware that if your fog lights are on your high beams are not so don't bother flashing them at me.

I agree some of the HID's are way worse than any fog light combo's with brights and I use my fog's for the deer. The damn things are stepping out all the time around here and with the county and states cutting back a lot of the roadside mowing has been cut too making it harder to see them.

Same in my state. That coupled with narrow roads, it has been a steady list of new entrees on the Road Kill Cafe's menu.

I've spent some time chasing wires and looking for an ideal solution for this, and have come up with the following.

I am not sure if having the high and low beam filament on in the bulb at the same time will generate too much heat for the housing. It may shorten bulb life, so I am forgoing a low/high beam on at the same time. (In my Duramax, the high and low where two separate bulbs in two separate housings, so I was not concerned with heat)

After chasing down some wires, I've decided that I will use an upfitter to control the fogs. To do this, will require two diodes. One will go in between the factory wire that feeds the fog lights and the light themselves. This will prevent a backfeed to the BCM from your upfitter power. This could cause the BCM to think something weird is going on, and we dont want to risk any damage to it.

The second will go on the wire coming from the upfitter to the fog lights. I am not sure if this one is required, but I dont know if there is any risk to having power backfeed to the upfitters. (and diodes are cheap).

The end result will be as follows:

With the upfitter on, the fog lights will be lit, regardless of the state of the headlight switch. You will be able to have your fog lights on with no parking lights.

When you turn you high beams on, the BCM quits sending voltage to the fogs, however, the fogs will still receive power from your upfitter switch and stay on. The BCM wont know they are on, because the diode will prevent power getting back to the BCM.

Note: I will be doing this mod this weekend when I also install my strobe lights in the grill and will post up pictures at that time.

Did you ever get your factory fogs to work off the upfitter switch?
