Adding .50 cents to the valve covers with a little trimming to lock in the UVCH(Under Valve Cover Harness) connector, ford also sells clips to do the same thing, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...t=truck+shakes

It's not exactly right down the street from you or anything, but there are a couple of us in Vacaville, don't have AE yet (it's on the next purchase list)...but I do have that spare cps if you ever need to try a swap.
Did you look at the link to the thread? The 50 cent modification is 2 quarters, 1 per side, that are ground down a little and installed behind the retainer on the UVCH clips to keep them from coming loose causing, the motor to intermittently shake and run rough or run rough all the time as well, just depends on the electrical connection.
Thank you all for clarifying the .50 cents. So much for me thinking it was a new high- tec phrase.
Well, the check engine light is off again, but my truck still runs rough.
Any suggestions on a good code reader to purchase?
Thanks again
Same thing happened to me yesterday. The SES light come on and the engine died on the freeway. Stopping 30,000 lb rig with no power assistance does take some distance, so good thing it was dessert. I put new fuel filter 1000 miles ago and in 20+ years of driving diesels in California I have never seen even a drop of water. Than lately I filled up 150 gallons in Utah, so that might be it since I refuel from auxiliary tank at home.
Coming back to engine dying, it had symptoms of running out of fuel. I was low, but no reserve light yet. Drained the fuel bowl and the engine would start and run, but drove it over 1 mile and it still would not come to the speed. SES light would come on when I was reving high on 5 th gear, but would go off when I switched to 6th. Drained the fuel bowl again and made 300 miles since with no more incidents.

If you are a DIY'er and serious about getting a code reader: Auto Enginuity with Ford Package.
Hi,
I e mailed a few weeks ago about my 2001 7.3 misfiring, service engine light on, etc. I got some some great responses, but the problem was not well defined as to when it occurred and the light went out, so I continued to drive the truck and took no action.
Last weekend it acted up again. It seems to occur regularly when I drive at high speed (65-70 mph) and for a lengthy period of time, usually about two hours.
I hope I am narrowing this down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Roger
