Early 51 grilles were argent color. Late 51 and all 52 grilles were painted an off-white color similar to Wimbledon white.

I realize my profile has minimal info, but by FTE parlance I'd be considered a darksider, for me this has nothing to do with what is/was or should be original

Brings to mind a quote:
there comes a time in your life when you decide to do what you want/like, instead of doing what everyone else thinks you should want/like

It's your truck and you can do whatever you want. Know one is telling you how you should build your truck. Each one of us likes something different. I, for example, prefer to keep my trucks stock and original or slightly modified, but with period correct accessories.

We were simply pointing out the original colors as an FYI for future reference. No one is telling you how to build your truck. It's yours and you should build it the way you want it so that you can enjoy it. Build it for yourself and no one else.

I have no issue with FYI info, only it's delivery in this instance. This is not the first nor the only forum I've ever been on or belonged too,
but one undeniable fact is they all seem to have at least two camps, the "Purists" and those the Purists here call "Darksiders".
Being the OP, my statement was meant only to let you know I wasn't a Purist and to try to rather succinctly keep the topic on Chrome
and to avoid any other "Throwing a wrench into things, or I'm just saying" remarks that to me are more of an obvious jab or back-handed remark
than FYI info for future reference......then again, maybe not. But I'm just saying.

Good luck with your build. I'm sure it'll turn out the way you have envisioned.

Modified or stock..I could care less. Anybody that's out in the garage keeping an old car or truck on the road gets my vote! It's all about enjoyment and expressing individuality.

Well put. I'd rather see these trucks, or any old iron as a matter of fact, on the road in any shape, than inside the crusher.

This place had a booth at Hot August Nights in Reno last year.

ogdenchrome.com | High Quality, Triple Plate Show Chrome

The guy I talked to said they pick up the part from you, then they have one of their employees call you as he is looking at the part and goes over any issues and what needs to be done.

Check out their web site.

I plan on using this place if I ever get to that point.

Wow, now that's quite an offer on the free shipping whether they do the work or not.
In my part of the country that's called puttin your money where your mouth is, Speaks Volumes.

Thanks for the link...
