Breaking door handles

In my trucks life time well over $250 has been spent on door handles. I bacicly break a door handle every 6 months now. It's a crappy design. Alot of upward force on a peice of plastic that's attached to a metal latch... It's stupid... I've greased them up, done just about everything so that less force is used, nothing works.... Does anyone know where I can find metal door handles because it's starting to **** me off...

Alot of places see the door handles for the 8th (it might be 7th too) Gen F-series and they're the chromed metal ones. That's what my truck has for the same reason.

It's just the 7th gen trucks that have the metal handles. I got some from a pull a part. LMC trucks sells em too I believe

Just 7th ('80-86)? I could swear every 8th Gen ('87-91) I've seen had chrome handles.

I am assuming that u are talking about the inside door handles? My truck is a '97 n with 195,000 miles. Only once, I had a drivers side handle break on me. I was told that any other brand but Ford, are not as the same original quality. I am not saying that I didn't break a factory handle, but my local parts guy told me that, he keeps them in stock now. I went to local truck junk yard and left with few of each side. Doubt I will break other one though. Just my two cents. I also pulled off a set of interior door handle that came off,...I think two before mine, a pair of metal ones. So if u have a local place to check, it may be worth ur time......

Whoops. Let me rewrite that. I got a set of metal interior door handles off a, possible two body styles, before my 97 and it is same style as 93-96. Same bolt hole pattern.

I've broken a ton of them. I've never seen a metal one in any of the ones from the 80s (8th gen) or early 90s (9th gen). I found some on ebay, so I'm very happy.

A buddy of mine just gave me a set of the metal ones. I'll definitely slap 'em on there now that I know the plastic ones break so easily...

mine appear to still be factory originals, they are starting to show serious wear paint wise but have yet to snap off or any thing like that!
