I've looked and looked. Some folks have told me varioius places to look for this thing, but I can't find it. It's not on the manufacturer's sticker, but I've had guys tell me it comes standard on all makes and that it's just the cord that I might have to buy. Can anyone tell me where to look and/or post a pic? Thanks.
The heater element is no longer standard on the Powerstroke. If it didn't come with a cord from the factory, you have to add the element and the cord. If it were there it is approximately located behind the rear of the right motor mount.
Look behind the right side spring tower beyond the motor mount. You will most likely find a silver colored socket head plug in the hole where the heating element should be. If you have a heater, the cord should be bundled up inside the bumper along the right side frame rail.
The block heater does come standard on all Super Duty's, if you live in one of the 12 cold weather states. Ford does not charge for it. These are predetermined states by Ford. I got one and I got the 6.2L gas but it does state on my sticker no charge. I am in MI.
Is the cord on these any longer than the 6.0? I always find it hard to work with, especially with glove on. I wish they would put some kind of male mounted device with a cap so you could just pug into it.
The cord on mine is located on the left side of the bumper just inside of the opening. I got mine stock also because I also live in Michigan. Never had one on my 2000 and I just cycles the glow plugs twice before starting...
I put mine on with gloves on with no problem. It does have a cap on it to keep the snow and rain out. It comes out about 4 inches from inside the bumper, it also has a clip inside the bumper that keeps it from swinging outside the bumper.
