What is this??

Anybody want to tell me what this is? I've been under this hood 100s of times and never noticed it before. Looks like it should have a hose attached but I can't find a picture of it with a hose on.

I agree, it's your EGR valve. On my 2010 the part number has changed and I do not have the tube installed that could accept a hose and on the other side there isn't even a place that a tube could go, it's blocked off in the casting. No hoses are used, maybe it's an older design that actually used those auxiliiary ports. Shop manual volume 2 page 303-08-11 shows the EGR valve installation, again no hoses.

probably a good thing they left the EGR valve in the truck, my understanding is that it is the "wastegate" for the 6.4 ?

Early versions were cooled with coolant.

In the shop maintenance manual there is nothing connected to the little tube you reference.

since you are deleted they removed the hose to the valve. Just plug it with a piece of hose or something.

Remember the venturi T.

Sure I do, but I still have the Tee and two hoses going to it. However, I found a picture with the hose attached to this tube. And when i look at both pictures it looks like the other end is on the Tee. So I have to look and see what's going into the Tee now.

You are good to go long as you have a tube running from your vertical EGR on the top running to the degass bottle.

EGR has no function as a blow off valve.

Yep. you called it, hose from top of vert EGR cooler to degas tee. But in the old pic there is another hose, from top of vert EGR cooler to something I can't see in the picture. I'm assuming that if I wish to go back stock I'll need to return those hoses. Is that correct?

Yes, but even in stock if you disabled your EGR (EGR cmd = 0) and you use block off plates you will not as then your coolers will only be mini coolers for coolant and no exhaust will be passing onto the intake.

Ps.

Nice engine bay!

Thanks, in stock if the EGr was disabled it wpould throw codes right? Besides I don't think my tuner can disable the EGR without deleting.
