I have a 1996 f-250 crew cab with a power window on the right rear passenger side that doesn't go down. I have removed the door panel and plastic sheeting. When I push the button for window to go down, I only here a clicking sound coming from window motor. Need help. Thanks
I'm looking at purchasing a F350 4X4 460 auto with several issues;
1 & 2 both rear windows don't work - traced the issue to the motors
3. ball joints
4. trans fluid brown and hard shifting
5. stock rims gone, cute C rated tires with beater rims
6. front windshild cracked
7. windows tinted pass legal level
8. some dealer rebuilt the steering gear but missed something.
Big issue is how to replace the back window motors, the ford manuals I have do not even show a power motor on the rear doors and it appears that ford riveted the door together!
The clicking that you are hearing is most likely the motor running but the plastic gears are stripped out. IIRC there are 3 plastic gears that easily wear out. You can get just the gears without buying the motor. Check places like RockAuto, LMC, or Bronco Graveyard.

There's threads here on how to do what Hunt4Fun described. I had to drill a hole in my door to reach one of the three screws holding the window motor. You can reach the other two without any metal work.
That's assuming the window mechanism is riveted, as mine is, and not the whole door :-)
