EGR Removal PROBLEM

i have an 05 f250 diesel and i'am trying to remove the EGR to clean it.

i have removed blots and EGR turns freely but i can not pull it out. i have tryed a wire on the bolt holes, turning and pulling but the F$%&ing thing will not come out.

Does anyone have any other idea's.

i have pulled till i'm blue in the face with no luck

Use the claw end of a claw hammer, it will pop right out with a couple bumps of the handle. Claw will bite under the flange of the egr. Use the intake as your lever.

that wont damage the EGR?

i Guess i have to be alittle more aggressive trying to get it out.

I will try hammer thanks

Use common sense! It hasnt hurt mine yet. and I pull mine every oil change. The first time was a little scary, Now I just do it.

ya i guess i should have said, i have never pulled an EGR.

i just bought the truck (first Diesel) and i dont think the last owner ever cleaned or replaced it.

Truck has 134,000KM

Once you figure it out, it will only take 30seconds! 2 bolts a plug and pop, done.

I had to put quite a fair bit of my weight to get it to pop out... if you're pulling it up in a straight line, it should pop out before it breaks.. (I think)
I used a wire + loop on a crow bar on the alternator for leverage

I used 2 small prybars on opposite sides to get mine out. First time out at 132k miles. It was stuck pretty good. Good luck.

hahahah i like the cherry picker idea lol, i feel like thats what it needs, im not a small guy but dam i pulled like crazy and nothing, gave up but will try again when im comfortable blowing 400$$ on a new EGR if i break it lol.

Mine to was a bear to get out, but a little gentle persuasion with a cats paw( little claw foot bar to get nails out ) worked like a charm. Good luck
