I found a used one on ps.org for 200. I'm gambling big time, but this guy has a pretty good rep over there and swears it's good. I'll find out tomorrow.
Dealer couldn't get it on Friday, they said tomorrow first thing.
I have a question....what would my next step be if this FICM doesn't work? I should be able to get on the Internet at the dealer so researching will be possible. I asked if I could install the FICM on Friday since they couldn't get to it, and they said they couldn't allow me in the service area.
I really hope this guy knows what he's doing. I'm hoping he's looking for bent pins and looking for wiring issues before assuming the part is bad. The dealership is very small and only has 2 service bays, one each for the oil change guy and the service guy.
Got a call this morning....FICM is now showing 48V with key on and 47.5V while cranking. Injector cycling is now working, but still no start.
Any ideas? The tech didn't sound too confident in finding the problem. He said there are just a couple of codes, but nothing related to this issue.
What questions do I need to ask to help him out?
Is this a NEW FICM or a used one? Did the tech perform a PMI on the new FICM during installation (as required)? Did the tech monitor FICM_SYNC and SYNC PIDs? Did they switch from NO to YES when cranking the engine over? How about fuel? Does it rise to the top of the secondary filter housing with the cap and filter removed, when the key is cycled to the RUN position? How about ICP volts, ICP psi actual, ICP desired and IPR duty cycle? Wow, this process is taking way longer than it would've if your truck had arrived on my doorstep.
If this is the stuff in the "book" then I can only assume so. I would love to be there looking over his shoulder, but I really don't want to be that guy that claims to know more than a technician. I'm just really frustrated....

For what it's worth, there are A LOT factors that can cause these vehicles not to start, and not set codes. I too, have more than my share of guys coming in and "telling" me to "hook up the machine so that it will tell me what's wrong with it". My general answer to them is usually, "well if it's that simple, why are you here in the first place?"
