I would say that the trigger wire (marked S) is hooked up to either the battery feed or the battery output...
The "I" terminal would not be used and the "S" terminal is the trigger. It is grounded through the mounting base. It looks like that red wire should be on the "S" terminal, but i'm not sure...
Whats it running?

Seeing as i have manual glow plugs power by a starter solenoid too....
Look like your top wire is battery + and the lower big terminal would go to your glow plugs. Then connect your push button switch in the cab to the "S" terminal on the right and make sure the base is grounded. Ignore the "I" terminal.
The two big terminals can be reversed. They just get connected when you apply 12v+ to the "S" terminal.
Edit to add: If you still have and want your 'GLOW PLUGS' light working, or want to add one, just power it from either the "S" terminal, the glow plugs terminal, or the wire to the "S" terminal in the cab.
Is this 1st gen gp or 2nd gen? My buddies 86 is going to have to be set up manual. I need to help him do this. So we will be on here asking I am sure. Hence why I am asking.

What about the wire that is looped from the battery terminal to the S terminal? Should that even be there?
I am no techie, just brought my clunker home as is and it seems to work. I did the headlight mods for high and lowbeams and running lights, new headlight switch and ripped out some melted wiring
I left the glowplug controller in place and went to a manual switch in the cab.
So I just took a pic of my solenoid in the orientation of your picture.
The black lead came from the small post on the left?
The red one came from the small post on the right?
The small red connector is removed on mine and that is where a wire is run to the cab switch.
I have NO other wire on that small post on the right.
I am not sure what is up with that jumper wire, but I think it keep the glowplugs fired up all the time, for a few minutes until they burnout anyway. That red looking wire should actually be a purplish wire and is what enguages the relay. All you have to do to use them manually is connect that terminal to a switch(prefferably) a push button or self cancelling toggle with power, and remove the purple wire.
Isn't there still a sticky at the top that covers this with pictures.
Try this... Remove all of the wires from the small terminals and the wire to your GPs (so you dont kill them trying to figure this out) on the relay. Now take a jumper wire from B+ and touch the S terminal. If it clicks then the relay works and you need to check the switch wiring...
If it doesn't click then make sure the base is grounded, even if you need to use a jumper wire to do it. Now touch the B+ wire to the S terminal. If it clicks you're good to go...
Where in Indy are you? PM me if you dont want to post it...
Ok I traced my GP manual button (In cab) and its connected to the other post (Not the S) So its wired wrong. I think its probably a safe bet that the little jumper wire going from the hot to the S post has kept the GPs energised which means they are fried now. looks like I need to order new plugs and start from scratch.
Otahyoni I am on the North East side of Indy. You are 85 Miles Slightly South and to the West of me
I think I got it figured now thanks to you guys here and over at OBN. I did away with that little loop and ran the button wire to the S post and the WTS to the post opposite.
