[quote=kpage;10555031]oil change place did the changeput in10-30 diesel oil and i used napa gold fuel filters, no modsit was a guess on thinking that heat had to do with the shut down no start issue..it was at operating temp.[quote=kpage;10555031]

Right now, I'm not certain it's the issue. But get that aftermarket POS filter out of your motor. Your not doing yourself any favors by MAYBE saving a couple of dollars. Also, if you've got the 5R100 (automatic tranny)...I strongly recommend keep the Bully Dog tuner off it. It screws up the shift strategy of the transmission.

Your driving a small commercial truck designed to drag 20k pounds down the road...all day long. How much did you think it would cost to operate it?

Exactly Since I'm trying to play nice for the moment...here's exactly what you need and where to get them for the 6.0L

Oil Filter:
Ford 6.0 and 6.4 Liter Turbo Diesel Racor Filtration PFL2016 Oil Filter(FPL-2016) - Diesel Filters,Additives, brake rotors, and brake pads for Chevy, Dodge and Ford Diesel Trucks Yes, $14 for filter

Fuel Filter:
[PFF-4616] - Racor PFF4616- Ford 6.0 Liter Turbo Diesel Fuel/Water Seperator Filters: Pick Up & Excursion-REPLACES FD-4604/FD-4616 - Diesel Filters,Additives, brake rotors, and brake pads for Chevy, Dodge and Ford Diesel Trucks The one & only one I ever picked up at my local dealership was $90; this one is $35 and is the EXACT same filter.

Here's is all the rest of the filters/fuilds for the 6.0L:
Ford 6.0 Liter Turbo Diesel Truck Filters, Air Filters, Oil Filters, Transmission Filters And Glow Plugs - Diesel Filters,Additives, brake rotors, and brake pads for Chevy, Dodge and Ford Diesel Trucks

I'm just frustrated with it and am getting tired of the "helpful' answers that i have been getting.it has been a 2 owner truck and had been serviced every 3 to 6k
Hey it's easy to get fustrated when your truck doesn't run and on the other hand its equally easy to over simplify things when your truck runs like a champ.

Based on the information you provided I would take this truck to a well known compendent Ford shop and get it fixed. If the root cause of the problem is fixed you could have a very reliable truck for many years!

You can get genuine Motorcraft oil filters from Wal-Mart for $18. dieselfiltersonline is where I get my fuel filters, for about $50. Not really much more than the aftermarket stuff. Using will-fit aftermarket filters will screw up the engine eventually.

People here ARE trying to help you.

Check the batteries. Charge them overnight and load test them separately. Go up to the tech folder, find the thread on testing the FICM output voltage and do that. Those are two things that could be your problem that you can look into.

New interstate batteries and the truck had been running for about 1 hr before and sat for 45 min at oil place then ran for maybe 20 min before it died. No have not checked do to the fact wasnt sure if that issue was do to any heat. I've had several no starts that I've fixed by simply replacing the NAPA gold filter and cap. The problem is the valve at the bottom of the oil filter housing. The valve has to be pressed down by the filter. The NAPA filter wont fully press it down, as a result, the engine is starved for oil. Because it uses oil to fire the injectors, it wont run.

When it sits at idle, the oil gets hot, the viscosity changes(especially with cheap oil) then a no start because of the aforementioned valve.

You must be buying the Motorcraft fuel filters from dieselfiltersonline which are about $48 The Racor 4616's are $35.75 It's amazing how much the red dye cost to package them in a Motorcraft box.

No, I get the Racor ones. I just pulled the price out of my head, which doesn't work as well as it used to.

Could the OP's HPOP be weak? Would that cause a shutdown, than allow a restart after cooling for a bit?

I'm surprised nobody has razzed him yet about buying a 6.0 without purchasing an aftermarket warranty plan.

If you've really only had the truck for 24 hrs, the dealership you bought it from will probably help you out.

If you bought it privately, then I guess you learned your lesson on that one.

If you think you got a problem now, wait until you get around my age. I was diagnosed with CRS several years ago.

Bismic and vloney, know these trucks, very well,,vloney has some Great advice on what he has found,,and as a Master Ford Tech,,I would listen to him and get those Napa filter's out of there,,Motorcraft, Fram (same filters,, Racor)is what most guys run, I run Amsoil 15-40 Diesel & Marine in my 06' Six-O,,runs Great,,,will try 5-40 for this winter, for ease of starting.
Fuel filters are either Motorcraft, or I buy mine from an International (Navistar) dealer set of 2# 1847170C93(maybe updated # now) with the water block membrane

Good Luck with the New Cheap truck !!

So go ahead and put your hopped up lawn tractor motor in there and see what it gets ya.

Should it be a 2 or 4 stroke?
