An interesting transmission sidetrack in a thread about windows. I completed the survey Andy- my tranny is going strong At 181k. Also nice step back in time when Brent trolled these halls.
I would think keeping those windows closed would help keep them in place. Just a guess as they weren't offered in 2000.

Wrong. I have a 2000 limited with the fold out windows.

I have no problem bumping an old thread with relevant info, but bumping a 4 year old thread with info about a Dodge?
I say we break out the spanking board!

Must be an XLT thing Sean. My Limited has power vent windows in the back.
Yeah, the rear quarter vent windows was an option that I believe came with some package (likely the XLT Premium package or the like)...on all MYs that is.
The hinges and tab for the opening end are secured on the glass with some 3m product. I remember reading the early excursions had one version of the adhesive and then 3m changed it some year to make it better for the bigger windows. Most people just come out to the X to find the window fell out.
this is the first I have heard of this so forgive my ignorance on the subject, Sounds like the issue is the adhesive but do we know if it is brought on by age ?
In other words have these been falling out since day 1 or did it start after several years of the vehicles being out in the world experiencing heat/cold cycles ?
My Ex is 15 years old, it has never had this problem, and it's outside all the time.

Mine as well, and that's my concern. My guess is that if they were not falling out for the first several years but have started to fall out many years after they left the factory that the glue degrades with age. At that point I am sure heat and or cold becomes a factor as to when the glue finally fails.

About a month after I bought my X, the window would close, but not seal correctly- the window had slid half out of the hinge. I took it to a glass shop and the guy said he'd seen it before and heard about the early adhesive failures. He had the recommended stuff and fixed it for 40 bucks. It has been fine since, and we use the pop outs all the time (with dogs and a kid ya need venting!). Even with extreme cold or hot, I figure since we got it I'll use it, and we'll deal with it if something fails...
