I replaced the intake gasket on my 1998 F150 4.2L V6. After getting everything back together I get the dreaded P0340 code. I don't think it's possible for the CPS to just go out, but I have bought one and will replace it later.
What else can cause this code?
What's dreaded about the 340 code?
It's the camshaft postion sensor right in front of the motor.
It is plugged on solid, wires broken etc?
If you had it out is it back in properly and 'timed'?
Good luck.
Okay, as i said I replace the CPS and all was fine. 200 miles later I get P0340 again.
Now this is what happens. When I first start the truck the CEL comes on, I shut off, reset the CEL and start again and NO CEL. The engine runs fine with or without the CEL. Is it possible the CPS in cheap? I only paid $25 for it, but a saw many more for
$40 to $75..
Thanks for any help
