I have a 2004 (new body style) Lariat Crew Cab and recently I've been having some problems with my power windows. While driving one day, I rolled down the passenger window and all of a sudden it falls straight through the door panel. Pull the door panel off along with the power window regulator assembly and I'm pretty sure I found the problem. On the assembly, there is a pulley where two steel wires are reeled onto. The steel wires are all messed up and need to be replaced since they will no longer secure themselves to the pulley. Does anyone know if I can replace the wires or do I have to replace the whole thing??
You have to replace the entire thing. Motor and all. It comes as one assembly. You aren't the only one to have this problem. Very common for these trucks and I'm surprised you made it this long. I've replaced 2 of the 4 on my '05.
As far as I know, there are no aftermarket/generic versions of it either. You gotta pay the Ford price.
I just changed my second one on the drivers side today they are not to bad to do, it would only make since to stop putting plastic on them and they may stop breaking.
2008 f150 crew. replaced regulator/motor and main master switch. main switch on driver side does nothing and the switch on passenger still only goes down but not up? Appreciate any ideas?
thx
