What causes the trucks to drop valves? Is it lash adjusters? I am setting right at 139k on my 2004 Ford F150 with the 5.4L 3v. I am about to drop 800 in labor to have the cam phasers fixed, that doesn't include the parts but I found a place online where I could get everything I need for what the dealer pays. Anyway I wanna know what to go ahead and replace besides the tensioners, and VCT Solenoids. Do I need to replace the lash adjusters while its in? I basically am trying to make my truck last as long as possible and not end up being one of these guys posting about their truck dropping a valve at 180k or whatever. I am sick of the noise as well.
Most of the time the spring breaks which allows the valve to stay open or either the roller bearing in the rocker fails and the rocker jams the valve open. Have the mechanic check all of the roller rockers for play in the roller. There should be next to no play in the bearings.
What's the website? Also, believe it or not, amazon has the cheapest prices. And with 2 days shipping you really shouldn't have a problem at all. I got my ball joints from there and they were that the manufacturer charges for them when they sell it to the dealer or the parts store. Just throwing my .02.

Amazon doesn't carry cam phasers lol. I just got the lash adjusters aka lifters anyway
