I am getting ready to swap out my cooler with a 6.0 cooler.
Both the inlet and the outlet on the new cooler is a 1/2 barb fitting. Both the hard lines at the engine seem to be the same size, making it so I can not tell which lines to hook together. Does it matter to keep the right flow of the fluid. Does it matter what line I hook up to the hard lines by the engine? Is the in and outlet the same for both coolers? If they are the same then i can figure it out easy. If not how can I tell what what is the inlet on the cooler and what hard line would be the inlet.
Matt Thanks
I had looked at that write up it help a little. Now I need to make sure which is the return line on the new cooler. My guess is that it is on the passenger side when it is installed on the rig.
Direction of flow does not matter in the cooler. Not sure if your 99.5 has the tranny fluid going thru the radiator like my 02 does, but I plumbed the cooler in after that, then to the return line. If you do not already have them, you'll need two of the 1/2 to 3/8 hose barb adapters cuz the 6.0 hoses are 1/2 and your 7.3 hoses are 3/8. A filter like a Magnefine plumbed before the cooler is cheap insurance.
Direction of flow does not matter in the cooler. ...
That's what I heard too... Highest temp I've gotten was 172 with the AC on full going up a 10% grade puling a 18.5 foot Sea Ray... most of the time runs in the 130's
