Hi everyone,

I would like to get some opinions on towing with a 98 F250 5.4L Triton and a gooseneck horse trailer.

Right now, I am pulling a 2 horse bumper pull trailer and total weight including horses is around 3,600 lbs and it pulls great!

I am wanting to get a 3 horse gooseneck trailer and would like to know what the safe amount of towing the truck could handle.

Horse #1 - 950lbs
Horse #2 - 1,000 lbs
Tack and all gear - 200lbs estimated

Total so far - 2, 150 lbs

What could be the maximum the horse trailer could weigh before it becomes not safe?

Thanks for all the help!!

well usually on the trailer I think the hitch piece or the goose neck area there should be a sticker that gives you various weights/limitations for your trialer...

Yes, for the hitch itself..but for the truck, I'm wondering what it can handle without putting too much stress on the engine and transmission.

The truck is being stored only use it for towing the horses, was hoping that someone on the board had the info at hand or knew how much it could handle. Guess I need to take a trip over there and check it out.

I also need a gooseneck hitch but I cannot place an ad because I have less than 25 postings..UGH!
