i have a 78 f150 4X4 that i would like to change the colum shift to floor shift. It has a C-6 Auto, and full time transfercase. I want to change colums and put a floor shifter in it. does any one know where i can get a kit or a floor shifter for 4X4 pickups? thanks for any help.
The "MEGA" shifter is a real good one, I have one in my race car,but a bit pricey. I found that a shifter from an "Aerostar" work's great. It has a long handle that work's out fine, and salvage yard's in my area sell them cheap. Keep in mind that it was made for an overdrive transmission, so there will be an extra gear marking.
cthe lokar unit. they make a whole assembly that bolts to the top of the tranny and it looks really good, dont recall the price but i dont think it was all that much.
The "Lokar" unit that you speak of shake's and rattle's with every movement of the truck's engine. I wouldn't recommend it. Although they do look good.
thanks, but i must keep in mind that i'll have over $15,000 in the pickup buy the time i'm done, so it must look great. I'm going to swap out the old colum and put a colum from the manual shift tranny, so it looks better. And i might go with the Maga truckshifter from B&M. If there are any more, i'd like to know about them before i make my decsion. Thanks for the help!
Geez, I wished that I had known about this forum earlier. I have thrown away a lot of stuff that you guy's could have used. Manual shift coloumn, 3speed transmission, bellhousing, new clutch assembly, flywheel, throw-out bearing. I still have some part's, like grill insert's, emblem's. Man what a waste. There's not much call for any of it where I live.
