I've gotten a screeching sound from that area on hard decel a time or two.

Screeching Turbo??
Returning from a week of pulling the 5er the 6.0 started developing a fairly loud screech on a hard decel. At least that's the best I can describe it. It throws NO codes, hard nor soft. It's going in as it still has a year left on warranty, but anyone wanna hazard a guess?
Hard decel = accelerate quickly, then back off the go pedal. It sure isn't a turbo fart...not one I've even heard before.

I just drive with the right side hearing aid removed!
You guys may have hit the nail on the head..... I didn't hear the fan come on going over that high pass near Hazelton, PA!!!! Could that be why?

Could the sound you are hearing, be from the fan locked, when sudden Decel, and fan spinning faster than the belt making a squeal? Had a Log Skidder that did this all the time. Fan going faster than the engine=screach from the belt.
