You mean the new Geraldo Rivera? Regardless of your sympathies, the job of a media journalist is to report facts, while media personalities state their opinions and editorials state the reporting media's political position. Melding together those functions is corrupting the individual professions.

Without getting into the issue, the professor is right, he's not writing as a journalist. And displaying an opinion of a personal critique in a national media should be left to the Dave Barrys, who are a lot better at it without making personal attacks. But that's show business.

george

i think you missed the whole point of the story or perhaps your hatred of those that love our country, a country at war, has blinded you.

either way, i think Mr. Cavutos words describe you and the proffesors kind perfectly.

I find it interesting that a professor of journalism's definition of what that profession should entail can be subjected to personal opinions of patriotism as a retort. That's actually entertainment directed to a specific audience, not news reporting.
