I'm sorry, but that's a cheap shot. So somebody managed to find 16 actors/ performers/ singers in this country that didn't go to college. What about all the others that did attend college? And what about Harry Truman? He never attended a university, yet he's considered by conservatives and liberals alike to be one of the greatest presidents of the 20th century. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a snide way of saying that anyone to the left of Genghis Khan shouldn't be allowed an opinion in this country. Personally, I disagree with most of the bleeding-heart Hollywood types, but as a TRUE American, I will defend to my death their right to voice their opinion. It's still one of the basics that this country was built upon. If what you want is a country where everyone must agree on all the issues, then let's figure out a way to resurrect the Soviet Union or **** Germany, 'cause that's what the extreme right-wing seems to want. Joe McCarthy must be so proud.......
The truly sad part is this: the more you pay attention to them, the more they get THEIR views heard. It reminds me of the American Legion and their efforts to get a constitutional amendment that bans flag-burning. As soon as that amendment is passed, you'll have a bunch of idiots all over this country suddenly burning flags, just so they can get arrested and get their name in the paper. Until there's an epidemic of flag-burning in this country, let's leave well enough alone.
Why does everyone put so much stock in the opinion of celebrity's? Either their supporters or detractors. Celebrity's have the same right to excercise their opinion as you and I.
I think a celebrity's choice to use their celebrity to influence politics is just as bad as anyone else that uses politics to judge the celebrity's artistic ability.
The educational contrasts drawn in the link are impressive. But... it's very obvious the facts were selected to support the author's personal agenda.
I have to wonder if the fact that Cheney held a leadership position at Haliburton Inc. and that Rice was a board member of Chevron USA was purposely omitted by the author to prevent rebuttals saying the Bush administration all has a conflict of interest with the peroleum industry and Persian Gulf oil.
I get the point of the article, but if I support the efforts of the Bush administration and I can shoot holes in it so easily, how does the author expect it to hold up when challenged by someone who disagrees? The article just preaches to the choir.
IMHO ,I think celebrity's are regular citizens as you and I and need to let the govorment thank care of there job and let the celebrity's act in their movies
but thats just MHO
I think the point to the article was that these are some of celebrities who are often the most vocal in their opposition to anything this administration says or does. These are most often the ones who claim that GW Bush isn't smart enough to be the President.
I went to urban legends.com and tried to find the IQ of gw bush but never could locate the article. i'm assuming that they listed his IQ to counter the substance of the article about "W" having the lowest IQ of any president. Has somebody published alist of presidential IQ's and is it on the net???fd
Ok guys...i did the Google search and found the list of (est) IQ scores of the dem's vs the rep's. The (4) scores that i disagree with are....eisenhower(est.=122)...he was a master tactican and very smart...and his IQ should be 140 or higher IMHO , (2)JFK....IQ=174...he was a smart man , but more like 135 or so , (3) george HW bush..IQ=98 , To be an aircraft pilot in WW2 and to just qualify for further tests I have been told that they wanted IQ's of at least 130 and up...so 98 is just BS ,(4) "W" bush....IQ=91....that's just so much crap...Does anybody here believe that W could have even qualified for pilot's school with an IQ of 91...even if he rece'd special consideration to get accepted i don't think he could have successfully completed the training program with an IQ of less than 125 or so. Not only that , I don't believe for a minute that the airforce would have allowed him to fly ANY jet fighter if he wasn't basically qualified....regardless of his last Name.......fd
Just like my grandpappy used to say "Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you read". Just as true now as it was then. 'Course, that was before the internet, so its probably more true now. By the way, I have a 189 IQ.
The article is not a cheap shot but an accurate picture of the facts. Its good to see both sides of any situation, but some of these people are using their stardom as political power. If thats what I wanted from them I would have elected them. Entertain me and then go away. The whole "I'm not a president but I play one on t.v." thing is getting very old. I was not for this war before it started - though justified I thought there were more important things to be done. Now that it is started I back our country 100% and will remember some of these people in the same light as Jane Fonda.
