Intake gasket leak is *typically* accompanied by a noticable miss, particularly at idle.
Good suggestion, though. If the engine has a detectable miss at idle, that seems to go away once the RPM goes up a bit, it could be part/all of the problem.
I had absolutely no misses whatsoever. The only thing I noticed was slightly more power because of the lean condition. Also the puffs of smoke after a good bit of oil was pumped to the top.
All it takes is for someone to have the intake off once and not sit back on properly screwing up the gasket. It's easy to do with the weight of them.
