My 95 f150 5.8 decided to drop it's exhaust so nows a good time to do it.
I wand a louder more agressive sound. But don't want a headache when on the highway and be able to talk in the cab. But I want to hear the truck when I pin it.
The rear cat will be removed. I plan on running some 3" pipe back t about the rear of the cab(depending on muffler length) then the muffler and a 45 out to exit infront of the passenger wheel.
Now for the question. What muffler. I'm kinda stuck between a couple recommended to me.
1. Flowmaster 10
2. Flowmaster 40
3. Cherrybomb extreme...
4. Other (give me your suggestion)
I have a Magnaflow done similar to what your doing. I like it much better than any of the 3 different Blowmaster junk I have had before over the years. I also really like Dynomax Ultraflo. I have them on my Mustang.
I would go with the super 44s , real nice when there duels....Lew
thats what i bought today, im going to put a 90 on the end of the muffler and my tip then measure back to where my cat was and put a one piece length of pipe in....
what would get me better results? mufflet near the tip or muffler near the beginning? im thinking the end....
On my 97 250 with a 351, the stock exhaust manifolds keep cracking. So I put on long tube headers, smaller high flow cats and flowmaster 2 chamber super 40's and it sounds pretty good. It is a true dual exhaust now and it sounds good. My flowmaster did just rust out recently and since I have over 194,000 miles on my truck, I just put on crappy Thrush mufflers from pep boys, only cause they were cheap. It doesn't sound as good as the flowmasters. That is just my experience, with what I have had on my truck. Good luck
well i got a deal on a flowmaster super 44.... for $70 i figure i can live with it for a while.
and FYI: the pipe right before the cat is 3"od which is going to work perfect as im going to run 3" i/o muffler.
All the Ford pipe on a HD 5.8 pre cat is 2 1/4. Sounds like you may have a nice aftermarket Y pipe in there. But for 70 I do hope that F-M its stainless. Thats a good chunk to pay for drone. I was shocked to see the haters F-M has on this forum. But Flowmaster has payed its way into many hearts with its flood advertising. I do like them on Chebbys, if im not driving it! (Not a GM hater also... What i'd do for a max!!! -=covers head=- )
I voted other as I am doing the flo X from Dynomax on my F250 5.8 keeping it true duel same exit as your choice, deleting the huge cat and using the stock 2.25 head pipe till an undetermined rot off date. Thinking late march to mid july 1212 is left in it.
Make sure to give us a sound clip when your done !!! Even if the drone sucks im sure its going to sound sweet outside. I think in the end thats what most of us are after under 38 years of age anyways... Just buy a bigger stereo for when you don't want to hear it !
