the pipe between the headders and the y is 2 1/4 but from the y into the cat it is 3" od pipe. this is the same thing that was on my old 92 as well. it is factory.
i plan on getting video as it sits now, with the cat cut off and full setup complete (cant get one of stock as its sitting in the box). from what i have read the super 44 should have less drone then the 40. and i got the black one.

Cool my 5.8 went duel head pipes into the only cat no y in there no 2nd cat. The cat was the y pipe. It was 2.5 out till snapped off plowing and I welded in a 3" out fix. Now its in the bed with the rest of the old system. If you ask me it all weighed too much to be hanging under a hard working truck. Was a lot of extra garbage to slam forward pushing up snow banks with my work boots at the loud pedal.
Do you work yours? If so I would not put the muffler on a 90 to the mid pipe. I see that as extra leverage for it to work loose/snap on yea. Id keep it inline with the system and pipe it out the side. But what ever works with your budget...
the muffler will be inline with the system the 90 will turn the tailpipe to exit the passenger side. but im going to put the muffler right at the back before the turn to the exit if that makes sense

Yep im with you now. With them 10's who needs a muffler??
Is remove both cats my 96 has only one and no muffler it is QUIET!
exact same here...mine a 5.0 and its quiet in cab sounds stock i can barely here it..but when i let my buddy go up the road i can here it some what alright but i can be alot better..im not happy with it all..quit disapointed...every body told me go glass pack so i did and it has abosolutely no sound..
oh yes im pullin my y pipe off soon and building one with out a cat in it..im hopin thatll waken her up sound wise..iv got flowmasters id like to throw on there but im not wastin my time right now as quiet as it is..but im hopin the non cat y pipe will be louder so i can put my flow on.. or glass pack depending on how much louder it gets..
I have a stock 88 f350 giant muffler in an FI 460 F350 with no cat.
Load pulling up a hill with your foot it it sounds great. Amazing how quit an engine burning 8 gallons per hour can be.
