Someone please help. My van has a vibration. Iv'e had driveline balanced twice new u joints tailshaft bushing replaced, new tires and wheels tires rebalanced twice !!! Anyone have any suggestions 98'15 passanger e 350?????
Its really weird.I can hear it start to rumble on surface streets almost like drivline or unbalanced tire. Then around 50 mph little louder at 70 mph you really feel it in seats and toward back of van you can feel it in column but not like a rotor shake ???
I took it toa diff shop the took of cover said it looked fine. Can a failed crush sleeve cause vibration?also when i get up to 75 mph and let of gas it kinda rumbles through 75-65mph range? My mech. had rear drums off and ran it on lift still vibrates. said bearings were torked way down reset torqe still vibrates.
Unless you have already done this I would get the wheels balanced one more time. BUT this time have them do a "finger" balance. This is where they install a fixture on the wheel that has wheel studs to center the wheel via the bolt holes, not the center hole. Most all wheel balance machines by default use the center hub to center the wheel on the machine. The steel wheels on my van are lug centric, NOT hub centric. It makes a very big difference in how the wheels are balanced. If you try this please report back.
My right rear axle and bearing was toast at 150,000 miles with seal OK! You may want to check yours as what your describing speed wise is a steady increase.
As well do you have an aggressive treat 4x4 tires on, if so that may also be the cause. I have Goodyear Wrangler AT/S on mine for the snowy conditions I encounter and they start buzzing at 70mp/h.
I have a similar issue with my 1998 Ford E350 (6.8L 2v) at speed around 65 to 75 MPH range I get a slight but clear vibration that is repeated every 5 to 7 seconds.
Anyone have any ideas what this could be? I'll try to organize the previous suggestions by intensity and start with the simplest.
Sorry for necromancing the thread, but I'll happily buy a beer for anyone who'd like to join the conversation.
