Of course, a longer term, more perfect solution would be to keep your eyes peeled for a another dashboard from a scrapyard or swapmeet.
Also have original radio; however, living amoung the redwoods renders it as useless as t.ts on a bull, but want to maintain dash original appearance.
Not to suggest your project does not look good, and as shortwide mentioned, certainly better than a gaping hole; although cost can be an issue as food for thought I seem to recall member posting pic's where he/she used a spare glove box door as a patch and tacked it in using a mig welder, then use body filler, sanded and painted. I don't have the welding experience to try it myself, wonder what a body shop; better yet, a welding shop would charge to weld in a patch, I found a welding shop that's unbelievably resonable. Again, your project did come out looking good!!. !
Body work in the bay area is rather expensive. I was quoted $500 to patch the hole a few years ago. This fix cost me @ $25 including paint. Another reason for going with red was that color matching the dash's white wasn't an issue. Not easy to do with a rattle can.
