Fe Engine blow by

What are some of the typical causes of engine blow by on these FE series engines and how can we resolve them? Anybody?

Blow-by is caused by combustion gasses getting by the rings. All engines produce some, but as the rings wear out, it becomes worse.

As long as your PCV system is working, it can take care of a lot of blow-by, but once it gets very bad, the crankcase pressure will tend to get out, sometimes popping off the dipstick, or frothing oil out the breatehr vent (or back into the air filter area dependant on design).

So other than making sure your PCV system is working properly, I doubt there's much you can do other than a re-build.

Of course, there's always those "Machine Shop In A Can" additives, but I think they're a waste of money although some people claim good results. (They're supposed to "fill in" scratches on the cylinder walls)
