super simple!!! Unplug the wire off the cigarette lighter, hook on a new wire and run it to the negative side of the coil. When the cigarette lighter is pushed in the coil is grounded and won't spark.

I haven't been about to work on the thread much cause I was gone for the weekend. I guess I could try to get some stuff done tonight, but who wants to when it's 32 degrees C outside? Not me!
ps, about ex-cons, lol "colorfull"?
Lol, and yes. Ex-cons are definitely "colourfull". Well, at least their background checks are!
Anywho, a few more good suggestions on here so far. I'm thinking on asking one of the forum moderators what I can do to get this stickied... anyone know how to get that kind of stuff done? How to get the "stamp of approval".
Also, keep the ideas coming. I'm sure we can think up or gather lots more.
yes maby the razor blades are a bit extreme but dam it i worked for it,i built it,its mine and no ones taking it with out some pain as i have about 30,000 into this truck
My dad just had an interesting thought...... If someone was really motivated to steal one of our trucks, couldnt they look for a thread like this one? And has anyone ever thought that someone on here might be a member of this forum just to find a car to steel? lol
This would be someone way to motivated to get an old truck. But with all the effort they would have to go through, i would steel a 2011 Mustang BOSS.lol
Superduty93, THAT is an interresting thought. When I first came across FTE all I did was type in 77 ford XLT and volla up came this site and the rest is history. But I'm sure that if any one was to steal a dent that it would be a spur of the moment thing but then again maybe not. Who knows what goes on in the mind of a thief. In my neck of the woods, Canada, I keep my dent locked up and inside a LOCKED garage with ole Jake watching BOTH!! Jake is a King German Shepard and unless I go into the shop first. oh boy there is hell to pay. John
One of the guys I work with has a 90's ish chebby as his mudding trucks and he has three kill switches in it for when he goes down to the river. the first two are in the dash and one is connected to the neg cable and the other is connected to the pos cable for the battery, bth must be engaged for the truck to start. He however does have another switch located in his glove box behind all of his paperwork. This switch is a master kill and whe it is flipped it will cut the power to the other two kill switches. So if you dont know about it and it is off, then you can never start the truck.

Well, if that did occur, they would still have a really tough time trying to figure out our security systems.
There are so many different ways you can wire our trucks up to have them "secure" that I doubt anyone would ever really figure out exactly how to steal our dentsides.
Plus, who would want to travel (unless the theif was in the same state) to steal a dentside? I could see someone wanting to steal someones ride that has over $30,000 into it... but one of our old beat up beasts? doubtful...
This thread is just for all those out there that don't have anything better to do than steal. And if they do come on this website JUST to find out what kind of security systems we're using... well...
this ones for "that" crowd...
"Screw off, you aint getting my dentside" lol!
I'll give the O.P. a bit of an update today, although I don't know which to start on.

Ya same thing happens to me when i type something into google. This forum comes up. Just thought it would be an interesting and clever way to steal a truck. Because alot of people on here all have pics of their ride and now they say what they did to "thief" proof it.lol So now the bad guy know what to undo, and what their truck looks like.
I do like the cigarette lighter idea with grounding the coil and all, but the only issure I see with that is that it is right out in the open and might seem a little wierd being pushed in and all.
What I was thinking was get one of the fuel tank selector valves, Hide a switch under the dash to control it and after you park the truck push the switch. This way the theif will start the truck and then for no reason it will shut off and they will have no clue why. Then they will probably think it is a cop trap and run.
