Question Weight question

I am in the process of re-doing the rear suspension on my truck. I am putting coil-over shocks and I need to know what the rear half of the truck weighs so I can order the right springs. It is a 1961 F100 with a stepside bed. The truck is not driveable at this point and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Flareside---ford
Stepside---chevy

i would guess 1/3 of the total weight of the truck.

I would start in the 600 per inch range and see how it sets. I have 400s on the back of the uni and i need to go to at least 700# on the long bed.

It will give you a place to start. I usually go through at least 3 sets of springs untill i find the correct ones i am looking for for ride.

Thanks for the info. I will see what is available in my length and make it happen. I was un-aware of the stepside,flareside terminology. Thanks again.

I was at the Western Nats last Saturday and there was a guy selling stepside bed wood kits. I asked him would the kit fit a ford. Guy had ZERO clue.........

Bed Wood Kits

Hey Garbz;
Check with Sacramento Vintage Ford. They have bed wood kits and if they don't have your particular kit, they can probably tell you who makes the kits for them.
