One of the things that bothered me most on my truck was the hood- When it was closed, it was WAY off on the back along the cowl, as you can see in this pic-
I played with it a lot, but the hinges were already all the way down... My hinges are a little worn out, and I figured I'd either just have to live with it, or replace the hinges. I greased them up, as someone suggested, and that did help a little, but not that much.
I did a little research, and found several places, including this forum, where people recommended shimming the front bolt on the hinge with a couple of washers. I couldn't figure out HOW in the world it would work, if it did, but I decided to give it a shot. And- It worked-
No, it's not perfect- But it's a lot better than it was, and good enough for me! It no longer really stands out like it did before, closes much better, and rattles less. The hinges are a bit weak, but it looks like I'll be able to go a while longer now before I have to replace them!
A great trick- Hopefully it'll help someone else, too... My wife even said it doesn't look like it was in an accident any more
There isn't all that much to take photos of- But here it is-
The shim is under the front bolt- I used a couple of washers... The blue is masking tape- I taped 'em together so I could slip them in there and get the bolt in. Worked well!
There is also another trick...these Ford hood hinges lack vertical adjustment, so by grinding a bit off of the
bottom of the hinge bracket, where it meets the cowl, you can gain the vertical adjustment you need.

That was going to be next- If this didn't work... I figured I'd try the easiest first, then move on to the grinder...
