Dual Tank Switch

My 87 F-150 has dual tanks with the black plastic switch, but I cannot tell which is the front and rear tank to know where to fuel up.
Can someone help me ?

The fuel door that is closest to the front of the truck goes to the front tank and the fuel door for the rear tank is closest to the rear.

Thanks Subford, but I was actually talking about the toggle switch on the dash to switch tanks.
The letters have gotten worn off !

The switch could be turned or changed but with a test light the Red wire is hot when the front tank is selected and the Brown wire with a white stripe is hot when the rear tank is selected.

The 1987 and the 1988 are wired the same:

Note that the wires are hot with the engine running or cranking.
If you just turn on the key the the wires are only hot for one second.

Like someone said above the switch could have gotten turned around but my '94 F150 is Top is for Front and Bottom is for Rear. That's probably the standard way they would be installed.

its standard to have the switch be installed so the front tank is on top and rear tank is on bottom (switch possition) so your switch should be front top pushed in, or rear is bottom pushed in, unless you got this truck from someone else and they fliped the switch around...

His stile switch is a toggle switch and not the rocker switch.

It all depends on where his is mounted too. If it is mounted under the dash then when the switch is pushed forward for the front tank and pulled back for the rear tank. We have an 85 that way.

Actually I used the toggle phrase incorrectly and it is the factory black switch !
Rocker style would be correct.
Top pushed in will be on front tank !

THANKS !!!!!
