I have a 06 expedition Eddie Bauer audiophile sound system with rse, rsc, and sub. No Nav. Dvd player is no longer working. i upgraded head unit to a pioneer 980Bt. got the headunit and sub woking fine. I was wondering what would be the best way to upgrade the dvd player. Using the factory harness at the radio and dvd player to make connections, or would i need to run new rca to the headunit, and splice into the factory harness for power connection. also would i be able to keep the rear seat controls this way. thanks in advance for the help.
I have the same problem on my 06 as well. Replaced with a JVC nav system/deck. The screen will not turn on the DVD system. But it seems to have power otherwise.
I'm looking at getting an aftermarket unit and simply attaching it up there like I did with my past minivan, and ripping the OEM one out. I'll probably just use the built-in FM transmitters to send audio to the stereo. In truth, I prefer letting the kids use IR headphones instead anyhow, so the FM quality doesn't bother me that much. Much simpler installation than taking the dash apart (AGAIN - ugh no thanks).
Okay let me ask this question if i go with the aftermarket unit, i will probably lose the dual play. I've already lost the rear controls, is there anyway to bring them back. Also do the rear fan controls run through the same wiring, because i have seemed to have lost those to. One more question is there anyway to keep the rear sub from popping when i turn the key on.

The only thing I have some ideas on is the popping which I also have. I read somewhere that you can put a resistor, presumably on the RCA line out to the sub to bring it down, then control it's level (up) via the head unit controls to compensate; at least that's what I understood. If you google, or search these forums, I think you'll find that in a thread somewhere. Good luck.
