Before i go and buy gauges, i'd like to have everyone's input/opinions on their setup. I like the Isspro's, but they are kinda pricy... I also like the glowshift package, but i don't want to buy these just to have to replace the gauges in a year. (i figure there's a reason for the low price, either low quality or low accuracy) I could be wrong, and the glowshifts could be great gauges! So I'm posting to see who's got what, and what they see as pros/cons for the gauges they have experience with. If you could, would you please let me know what you spent individually/all together??
Also along the line of gauges, since i have a 5 speed, what gauges should i get? i know EGT's is a must, and i want one for boost (0-30? 0-60?), but i haven't figured out what i want for the third one... anyone got any ideas? since it's a 5 speed, do i even need to worry about trans temp???
Hahahaha you must have been reading my recent thread about gauges. You just beat me to posting about it.
I was wondering the same deal. Has anyone had problems with Glowshift?
Only reason im considering glowshift is due to price... I want to support Clay as much as possible.. ...but if i do I can only afford to buy one here and there until I get em all
As for your question about having a manual. I have heard many people running Fuel Pressure gauges. IDK any more than that though..
I like the DiPricol Optix gauges I have. I really wanted to match the stock gauge cluster as much as possible. and they're as close as I could find at the time. I think I paid under $250 for the set of three and an a-pillar mount. Got a receipt somewhere....
I have EGT/Boost/Fuel Pressure. Good to know what that mechanical pump is up to (or down to).

yeah, you're comments got me really curious! i'm in the same boat, i would love to buy from Clay as much as possible, but it may take me a good amount of time to get everything, where the glowshift seem like an awesome deal, and i could afford that all at once...
I appreciate the support guys, but even if you don't buy from my I would still suggest Isspro or Autometer. Even Dipricol Optix were nice when they were still making them.

Yeah, you know, i was thinking about it, and in the long run, i think that isspro would be my best bet... sure, the glowshift are cheaper, but if i have to replace the gauges within a couple years, i'd more than likely end up spending twice as much as i would just saving for the Isspros in the first place.... Glowshift seems to be one of those "autozone brands" (cheaper brand/lower quality)....
FWIW, I've been running the glowshifts for a year and a half with no issues so far. From what I've been reading they aren't having near the problems they used to have with the gauges. I also would have rather bought from clay, but they were a christmas present so I can't complain.
man, on one hand, it's cool to have so many options, but at the same time, it sucks! lol I think the price thing is the only catch up... for the glowshifts, it's like $230, for the Isspros, it's like $485... at least the ones i picked out... decisions, decisions...
Cant argue with American Made! Im probably gunna split the deal...since I can get the a-pillar for like 30 bucks from glowshift...and I can afford an Isspro Pyro guage right now from Clay.. and just have 2 empty slots for a little while.. and all I am worried about is burning up my motor right now.
Speaking of Pyro... why would you get the 1600? when you can get the 2000? You can read higher numbers... I guess with the 1600 you can read more...accurate numbers? but I only want a general one anyway.. stay under 1200 when cruising! lol thats all that really matters.. Am I right?!
not to mention I am gunna get 6637 and some maintenance stuff from Clay.
Supporting clay was not the worry...he will get PLENTY of my money of the next few years.. It was deciding what type of gauge to get!
Why bother with the 2000° when 1300° is the tops you'll ever want to run?
I think the pistons melt around 1800° (that's 1500° @ the gauge for manifold mounted sensor). That fits within the 1600° scope. You'll get better granularity with the 1600° gauge anyways.
.
I run Autometer C2 on the pillar and Ultralites on the dash. I do have one Glowshift but its for Non critical Air pressure for my on board air. Works well and the price was right.

thank you for that, i've been wondering what the "limits" should be with EGT's. reps sent!
