302 Problems with 2150 carb
I started looking at my carb. I think i have two problems. One is an easy fix and the other, well I definitely need help.
The easy fix is jetting. I think that my jetting is a little to lean. The stock in the carb is a 49 in my 2150 carb. When I install my Holly 4412 the jet is a 69 and I can eliminate all problems with that carb set up. I think if I can richen that circuit that it will perform better. Now on to my more difficult problem.
Upon further inspection, the venturi cluster on my 2150 has a huge crack running down one of the emulsion tubes. I am assuming that with this crack in the emulsion tube that the carb can't run like it is supposed to.
Does anyone have one they could sell me? I tried looking on ebay. I have called holley direct. they can sell me the complete carb, but not the individual piece. I called daytona carb. Same story.
I appreciate the help!!!
I might have a spare, but first, can you post any markings on yours? Also, what is the main venturi size of your carburetor? This is found cast into the side of the carb body in a circle and will be 1.21 or 1.09 or similar.
Ford jets are not sized the same as Holley ones so don't assume yours are too small.
At idle the mixture screws can be adjusted enough to compensate for the faulty emulsion tube, but once the throttle is opened more, the cracked tube causes a poor mixture.
Where are you located?
The number on the venturi is A DD5. The number on the carb body is 1.08.
Hopefully his works long enough for smog. After that, it's back to the 4412 for two years.
