Yeah I totally did. I had embedded material from kingpin left in the axle threads. My machinist had the right size tap and I chased them and cleaned out the 30 year plus crap.
Thanks 73 ford guy,I thought so. The tap cost me 25$/well worth the expense at this place in the axle,maybe I should put some locktight also in placement.Thankyou once again dave
Just so you know from what I read the kingpin was torqued to 600 ft lbs from the factory. I hope you got a good torque wrench for that.....lol.
Lok tight or never seize would be the options for reinstalling. I can't remember right now what I did. I'm leaning towards never seize
I thought never seize was used to help rebrake the bond down the road,I use it on everything with threads,but the kingpin needs to stay tight,that is why I thought lock tight,which I never use.Thanks for all your help dave
