to start i have a 97 f350 5speed 4x4 cc lb164k, guages ,dp tuner, 6637 intake, 3 inch dp no cat 5inch back just wondering what you guys would recommend i replace or keep a close eye before it goes bad on me.i have no real problems now, an occasional very rare hard hot start, and blue smoke on cold start that goes away in a couple min. i think the blue smoke is injector o rings, so is it worth pulling the vc's/then new gaskets or can you reuse? and changing the o rings or should i just wait to get my stage 1's(not in the immediate future, but soon...hopefully) i only loose about 2qts of oil in 4-5k not bad but i don't like blue smoke..haha. just want to take care of this truck i don't see it going to any other owner in my future!! all help and input would be great!!
I think your right on the injector o rings. If your planning on keeping the rig concentrate on the drivetrain, brakes and suspension. Good synthetics in the gear box, transfer case and both pumpkins.
The front end has been gone through recently ball joints drag links, bearings, seals new pads and rotors. I need to do the rear drums and seals next.. what oils do you recommend for the front and rear diffs? Tranny? And transfer.. straight switch to synthetic is what you would do?
Thanks
Oh yeah all synthetics for sure. I use Redline products myself. Amsoil or Schaeffers would be a couple of good choices too. 75w-140 in the pumpkins. The spec for the front diff is 80w-90 I think but I've always fun the came fluid in both front and rear. The appropriate transmission fluid in the 5 speed and transfer case. Depending if it gets real cold where you live I would run Redline MTL in the 5 speed. Might be a bit stiff in real cold weather until it warms up.
