I need to know if it is possible to replace the clutch in a front wheel drive 92 honda accord 5 speed manual tranny, in my driveway( a home repair) and without alot of hassle. I have done clutch plate and fly wheel repairs on my mustangs( rear wheel drve)., and have no clue what is req'd when working on these transaxle type cars. Sorry, it is not my fault ..my silly son bought a ricer, I told him to buy a ford pickup, but both sons do the opposite of what they are advised to do. Basically, I need to know if I can drop the tranny from the bottom or do I have to pull the whole engine/transaxle out from the top? Thx in advance
Look man no offense, I realize you have been here alot longer than me...but this seems to be the wrong audiance to ask about a front real/transaxle car, except what is the best way to aproach them so as to roll over them.
I am trying to get this car running so my kid can go look for work. I am tired of seeing a 23 and 25 year old aimlessly waste every day of their life sitting around the house. I fix their cars for them so that they do not have an excuse to sit around here all day drinking little bottles of snapple, at 1.00 dollar a shot!. Beer doesn't even cost that much! This is a great site, and attracts alot of mechanics, I would appreciate their advice. Signed, a father that would like to see his kids leave the house.
I understand your situation...I am in the military 20 years old been livin and supporting myself since 17...I have good friends who have kids older than me who still live at home making 1 or 2 hundred a week, and here I am always over there and I make enough to own a new 150, I understand you tryin to get them out of there and working......however, Icannot help you out in the clutch change sorry....
Don't know about Honda but I just put a transaxel in my Grand Am out in the drive way. Never did a front wheel drive vehicle before.Wasn't bad at all. Just get your self a Haynes or some thing like that. I know how the kids are. I had to have my son leave the house cause he thought he was gonna lay around the house all day. Turned out for the best. Made him relize he had to get a job and get his s@$# together. He''s now married, had a baby daughter a few months ago. Doing good. Some times ya got to force them to grow up and get a life.
Instead of thinking, "pull motor, get to clutch." Think, "pull wheel and axle, get to tranny." About an afternoon job, with tools handy and a basic clue.
My dad and I replaced the clutch in my sisters Nissan in my driveway. W ended up pulling the tranny away from the engine enough to replace it (there was a brace underneith that we couldn't get off)
