I need to replace the Rear Rotors & Calipers on a 2000 F350 Dually, it has < 75,000 miles. I recently purchased it on eBay and it looks like the former owner backed it into the salt water to launch his boat and there is rust back there. It had been is storage most of the past 5 years.
The left rear caliper is dragging and cutting gouges in the rotor and both rotors are severely rusted. Only one caliper is sticking, but I think that it makes sense to replace both at the same time.
Questions/Comments:
- I use it as a daily driver unloaded; occasionally tow a ~ 5,500 lb boat on a tandem axle trailer with surge brakes; occasionally tow a 7x16 cargo trailer with electric brakes
- I will replace both rotors
- Should I replace both calipers?
- Should I replace the rear wheel bearings or anything else at the same time?
- What brand/style for rotors; calipers and pads?
- I have heard some people recommend slotted/drilled rotors. How much of a difference does this make? What happens when you need to turn rotors? It seems like you would lose some of the slotted effect, although the drilled holes would still be there.
- It is above my pay grade/skill level to do brake work. Do anyone have any recommendations for someone in the Dallas, TX area?
- Also need to do some front end work like ball joints; stabilizer bar; front wheel hub. Dallas Frame & Alignment (a reputable shop) gave estimate, but it is pretty high, any recommendations?

I found a Ford brake guy through 'Cheezit' who said that he can do the job for $120 labor + plus parts. This seems like a reasonable price?

So, are the Ford/Motorcraft parts adequate?
What about standard aftermarket parts, like NAPA, Wagner, etc...?
I see some people talking about upgrade to premium parts, but I'm not doing anything very heavy duty. Would be willing to pay a little bit more if it gets me much better performance.

Recommendations on the best cost/benefit ratio from past experience?

This is my opinion,but I wouldnt go with ford parts.Go to Napa or advanced auto or autozone for your brakes,rotors and calipers.I would crawl under it and look at your backing plates.If its pretty rusty and you are going that deep get 2 new backing plates.Dont get them from ford either go to RockAuto Auto Parts
