Bronco beginner

This is my first bronco post as well as first bronco and what a great place to start with a first year. I was givin a 66' all stock parts with a fresh rebuild on a orignal 65000 mile I6. I have been putting off working on it, hoping I could sell the previous project (79' f350 Ranger) and have a lil money to start with. I guess i will have to do this the old fasion way and save.

I'm just curious from a bronco completely stripped down where does one start to rebuild? I need to finish por15 the frame and weld in new perches for body mounts. That is a givin and i just need to find somewhere I can work on it. I guess I feel lost with no experience on these.

I am also no where near my shop/garage. i am active military and got station about as far from my homeland as they could. Thank all ya'll that help ahead of time!

Welcome to "our side". Looks like U been on the other forums/home CHAPTER. We have plenty a guys "on the job" "over there". We Love Pic (the project /or/ environment of your deployment)!!!!

where does one start to rebuild?
You sound experienced, U know it's a great deal about research...there's a specific site for (almost) concourse '66s, the bronk specific vendors have lots of info, dozens of bronk specific sites w/build threads. To me, & I have no automotive mechanical theory, it's all about application, application, application! Get a final goal in mind (purpose/use, look, drivetrain etc) and create that. For keeps? (mine has been a wrk vehicle that's brought an income when there was nothing else), to market (flip, sell)? both very different 4 me.

'Frame off' can mean rotisserie. My one comment is you will destroy the frnt end B 4 U get it off the frame (or as U do) if THAT's not dissembled. There R NO supports up frnt from the 2nd to last tub mounts (driver's compartment) to the final toward the frnt bumper. People have pulled it off and had a lot a metal crumble (core support, inner/outter fenders etc). Get the measurements and tack weld in supports.

Again, welcome (join ur local chapter eventho "away", I get alot outta mine - mothly GTGs, daily posts, etc) enjoy ur stay, stay safe 'there', thanks so much for servin us all (I'm 60 y/o & would B useless there), keep talkin...

I have my fair share of experience here and there, I do appreciate the recognition (as do all 3 of my siblings). Ultimate goal is to have it as stock as the pretty lil thing can get. It is a full cab and from what you were saying about getting everything off, when I got it that was already all done. Where I go from here is only to rebuild it. I need funds most of all, so I am at a stand still till I figure out what and how much. lol.

I really hope I can get alot of knowledge from ya'll and that I don't let this fall to the way side. Thank you,

Boomer

I have had a couple/many responses on that alone, but the truck goes as a whole. Sorry to dissapoint, lots of extras and stronger then all get out.

Clarify "stripped". Bare frame, rolling chassis etc. I've done a few.

Get as much done while you have access. Brake lines, fuel lines, suspension bushings, and any work you need to do on tranny/transfer case, driveshafts etc. Drive train is much easier to install from the top than having to do it from the bottom. Any cleaning/blasting of the body underside is much easier now. Sheet metal can be replaced when back on the frame, less room for error. Plus once it's at least able to trailer in one piece, better off you are if you have to change locations. Good luck and enjoy.

Sounds more like a restore than mod. I think the site is U13 rodster dot com? hafta look it up 4 ya. Info/contacts for correct rear views, upholstry, info on oe drivetrain, etc. A neighbor had 1 w/the orig firestone air bags up frnt (inside the coils). Also see Drew Peroni over @ CB, but don't buy from him if possible (way inflated in ego and price).
Keep talkin 2 us (again we love pic!)...

Don't sound like "a beginner" (W/the pic/'puter either, I can't get it goin) to me.
Restorin the rig is just like a 'stang, nova, or highboy. If there's anyway we can help let us know.

I think JBGraveyard has some nice replacement mounts (right sz metal to receive the rubber/'thane 'pucks'). Can U weld them on? Then gfw1985 has used the wildhorses' 'pucks' to good advantage.

Rootin U on from afar,
Bro Chad
