I have a MKVIII fan but no controller. I ordered the variable speed controller from Delta Current Control. They hit my card that day and haven't heard from them or received any response to my email. It's been weeks. Thinking I need to call the card company and switch to plan "B".
I picked up a 3g alternator a long time ago and threw it on the shelf. A month or so ago my alternator went out so I installed the 3g, I should be good to go there.
I heard those 3g alternators aren`t too hard to install. What vehicle did you get yours off of and did you have to make any bracktery to hold it on, or did it just bolt in.
I pretty sure I remember people saying it took a while to get their controller from the guy at Delta, but he always came through. So I'm sure your ok there.
I run a $17.99 controller from autozone for the low setting on mine and the high setting is running off the A/C clutch wire.
650, Read this link https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...g-upgrade.html It's long but everything you need is there. I'm running a 503(460) with L&L brackets if that makes any difference. I didn't need to clock the connectors or anything. Super simple.
jsutton, Thanks, I guess I'm a victim of today's "gotta have it now" society. No big deal if I knew but not hearing from him but seeing my money go, had me concerned!!
I am running a delta current control with my mark VIII fan. It works awesome. The guy that makes these does not answer his email for some reason but this is his number. (408) 379-8951. Call after 7pm but before 9pm pacific. I am pretty sure this guy has a regular day job. I talked to him because it was a week past the stated lead time. He said I would get it within 4 days after talking to him. It arrived exactly 4 days later. So except for the no response to email I'm a happy customer.
I have a temperature switch as well. It's downstream of the fan control relay. When the temperature rises past the threshold (I don't recall which one I picked), the switch grounds out the relay coil, the relay closes, and the fan turns on.
Which Delta controller did you order? I've been looking into their variable speed one, since I like the idea of variable speed. You can program the "on" setting and it ramps up fan speed from there as needed. I dont have the Mark VIII fan, mines from an '06 Lincolin Zephyr. They were a variable speed fan from the factory. It has the same dimensions as the Mark VIII. I have the stock Lincolin controller, but for it to operate, it requires a PWM signal from the ECM. Since Im going to be installing the fan ahead of a 4BT Cummins, getting the PWM signal isnt an option. Thats why Ive about decided to go with the Delta variable speed. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has used one.............
I am using the fk50p with the add on indicator light. So far it works as advertised. I am still playing with the temp adjustment I had it tuned too cold. With my desert cool radiator and my mild 460 it hasn't gotten above about 187 degrees in 90 degree weather. Even sitting at lights and traffic.
Like I said it works as advertised. You set your temp for the max temp that you want to run at and it ramps the fan up and down to keep it there. It's pretty damn steady once the truck warms up and the thermostat opens. I am running a 180 thermostat as recommended.
