I think some here have had decent luck with the Glowshift gauges, run a search on them to find specific threads. I will admit, it was hard for me to drop $300+ on something that had zero performance value. What it did give me was insurance and piece of mind. When I'm pulling 8k lbs up a grade or have the pedal mashed empty, my eyes are on those gauges. I'm so glad I bought them.
I have the 7.3 with a 4 inch lift. It was not well taken care of...so i have put a lot of cash into it repairs (always upgrading when I can). It has over 215k on it...with zero engine problems.
The best improvement i made was putting a dptuner on it. I love being able to change the tune on the fly!
I get 16.5 mpg highway here in hilly north cal, and about 12-13 around town. Best I have gotten was 19 mpg on the highway. That's with the 80e tune. The worst i have gotten is 13.3 on a trip on hwy 1 along the coast. All curves and hills.
