I have heard there is a 5% (maybe 3%) error rate allowable for T-stats..... given this, you COULD have a normal t-stat with a 185* opening.

This is exactly when mine has opened since new. Pulling trailer on level ground it runs 190-200.....

the whole motor was rebuilt by me. long story short we bought the truck with blown motor. i took bad motor out and put a motor with 48k in. tore it down and did studs, egr, oil cooler, gaskets, hpop fittings the whole 9 yards. and after all that i figured i wouldnt have to worry about it but im still not sure why my coolant and egts are so high. no it doesnt have a coolant filter on it yet but will soon.

Will a clogged oil cooler cause high ECT or just high EOT?

more of just high EOT. the ect can climb because of the restriction but you will see the oil up there pretty high if its clogged

When my temps settle, they're sometimes 9-12 degrees apart but don't really go any more than that, but don't really go any less than that either. Like today I noticed my EOT was staying around 204 while my ECT jumped around between 192 and 195. And then sometimes my ECT would climb go 198-200 and EOT would jump to 207ish. My trucks ambient temp is reading over 100 degrees everyday but everybody else seems to stay in the low 190s with ECT and high 190s with EOT regardless of temp.

What is your basis for 225? Just curious. I found 230 on bismic's sheet in the tech folder

I was running those temps pulling a hill near my house empty. Truck would get warm/hot pulling my snowmobile trailer in 20 degree ambient temps over the mountian also. Pulled my motor becasue of an EGR cooler. Did quite a few upgrades, changed water pump, t stat, and new radiator beings I was in there and didnt like the temps. Since them it runs like it should have all along. Dont really know what the one thing was but it runs cool now.
