external voltage regulator

How do you check the voltage regulator on an 82 1/2 ton pickup

Some places can test the regulator just like they can the altenator.

You can take the voltage regulator off and take it to the local parts store like O' Rileys or autozone.

I did, the guy at orileys say they had no way to test.
Well I replaced it anyways. My book says their easy to burn out with a new alternator and year old battery it had to be a bad regulator
Thanks anyways man

Yeah, it's specialized equipment. The local autozone here has the tester for the regulator, in the same bin for the ignition module. it stands to reason not every place would be able to test it, or for that matter a person who would know how.
