Unless the compressor will contain pressure outside of the actual housing... The truck was off when I tried turning it so it shouldn't be the compressor pumping (unless it retains residual pressure passed the seal). Or perhaps turning the compressor compresses enough that it leaks out with just a few turns... As far as jumping it, what terminals go where? Or how does that exactly work? I really don't have many of my tools out here (jumper cables yes, jumper wires no)... I just want to have a clear grasp on things before I, like the thread says, "kill myself." I'm definitely ready to try though... I would engage the clutch (that doesn't move with the A/C anymore) and try taking off the bolt, but I really don't want the clutch to suddenly move and fling a wrench into my dome.

$65 to evacuate, $30 for bypass pulley..... = $95 + tax
$20 for a bearing... = $20 + tax + possible wrench to the dome

if you guys can help me figure this out (like I said, I've never messed with an A/C system before, and all I care about is the pulley moving smoothly right now. cool air can happen later) Let's get me home!
Thanks guys!

Use an impact wrench to remove the bolt or put a wrench on it and give it a smack with a hammer.
Put some kind of strap on the pulley to keep it from turning.
Nothing is going to come out and get you.

YES! Hammer-time! so far I got it off ( with the help of Sr. Sledgehammer) No venting whatsoever. I can see the bearing now, and it looks like that is all that is wrong. When I get the bearing in the morning, I'll post back to tell of my adventure. The bearing is torn up but it looks like that is it. We'll see... No venting at all. A little help from friends at FTE and a sledgehammer is all it takes. Thanks guys.
